Future-Proofing Libraries

This sunny morning in Monterrey started with an awesome keynote speaker Brendan Howley. A Journalist, and screen writer who currently writes for Info Today.

WE ARE SURROUNDED BY STORIES

He discussed that story telling is they key to future proofing a library. Not physically telling stories to patrons, but the way we communicate and share information. When we market content there should be a story. "The more you know about your audience, the better you will do".
Fun Fact according to Brendan, Librarians are trusted among the community. Second on the list of trustworthy people. The top of the list are of course doctors and ER staff.

When journalist create content they ask themselves and try to answer "What? So what? Now what?"

Libraries are constantly evolving, they are not simply an educational platform, they are becoming a cultural destination.

Libraries are brands. The services we provide should never be about the library, but about the community. Libraries change the world every day. Sell them (patrons) a relationship, nothing else matters.
